FRENCH VION AND BAURY BISQUE PORCELAIN FIGURAL PAIRS, LOT OF TWO, featuring two couples dancing on footed oval bases, each wearing pastel poly-chrome hand-painted 18th century attire. Having applied green anchor mark. Vion and Baury (Vion et Baury at Choisy Le Roi), France. Anaged several porcelain manufacturing factories in Paris and Choisy-le-Roi. These f actories produced the best quality figurines, dishes and decorative elements of the period.
Many of Vion and Baury porcelain decorations were attributed to Poyard (artist Charles Poyard) who in 1868 became the successors of Jean-Marie Gille's (porcelain factory in Paris). The partnership with Poyard lasted only a few years. Vion and Baury continued to work until the mid-1870s; a new factory was opened in Choisy-le-Roi. Baury died in 1879 and Vion continued the business until 1889 when the factory went bankrupt.
